Study of the factors affecting on the result of the identification of permanganate index of natural and discharge waters

Author: Mariami Bregadze
Keywords: Permanganate index, natural, discharge and drinkable waters
Annotation:

One of the indices of the quality of natural, drinkable and drainage waters in the common content of organic substances to evaluate of which the definition of permanganate index is required. The value is the relative one as according to the conditions 50-60% of the solved organic substances are oxidized by 0.01N permanganate. After the common concentration of organic compounds, permanganate index abruptly reacts on the duration of boiling the compound, the value of its increasing by one minute is increased by 1-2%. The reason for rough error might become paper filter which should be thoroughly washed before filtering muddy samples. The initial concentration of permanganate in the compound, reagents supplements line thermal treatment mode and concentration of sulphuric acid in compound has less impact on the result of definition of permanganate index. Despite a lot of factors, the repetitive results of permanganate index might be obtained through complying with the recommended conditions. Deviation of separate results in parallel definitions constitutes averagely 0.03-0.04 mg0/l and standard and relative standard deviations are less than 0.1.
