In the presented Master Degree Thesis "Peculiarities of the River Nenskra Gold Occurences ", are discussed related to Upper Svaneti and the river Nenskra in particular gold mineralization issues. The problem is topical for our country as Georgia has been already attributed to the list of gold-mining Countries. Therefore the interest to mineral resources and notably to precious metals has drastically increased. The Upper Svaneti region and the river Nenskra gorge are especially significant from this point of view. It was believed until the 1970s that the crystalline basement of the Caucasus was limited in mineral resources and exploration of the placer gold sources was being conducted only in the Mesozoic complexes of the river Enguri and its tributaries. In the 1976-78s, the Caucasian Institute of Mineral Resources carried out the reassessment work in the river Enguri placers and distinguished that during the 40-year time span the placers were refilled by gold. The question of a gold source has risen as cross-cutting Leiassic formations quartz veins could not be responsible for this amount of gold. Later, in the crystalline basement of the Caucasus, several gold-bearing occurrences were observed along the Alibegi regional fault, which is still being studied. The present thesis deals with the above-mentioned topics and the issues of the river Nenskra gorge ore mineralization are discussed. The findings of previous researchers have been summarized and tectonic setting of the constructing the region rocks has been defined. Intrusive, subvolcanic and metamorphic complexes have been studied on the basis of bibliographic and obtained by the thesis author personal data. Based on the comparative petrochemical analysis of magmatic rocks their formational context and petrogenetic model has been determined. Ore mineralization potential of the River Nenskra valley is considered in association with the Paleozoic age granitoid intrusions and granite-migmatite series. Several significant gold-bearing occurrences (Tetnashera, Gvashkhara, Memuli, Tskhvandiri, Hokrila) have been characterised. The River Nenskra gorge has been studied using a remote sensing method which is a novelty and which the preliminarily revealed hydrothermal alteration zones, quartz-rich regions, sericitization-kaolinization and gold anomalies. Detailed search-assessment works were conducted on the hokrila and tetnashera ore occurrences. It is testing mentioned occurrences rocks and ores. It is made the transparent thin sections and ore mineral thin section, analyses of economic metals (Au) are performed in the laboratory of the Caucasian Mineral Resources Institute. These works are financed by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation under the grant funding of "Master's Study-Research Projects Grants" project. As a result obtained and fund data analysis have been detected the river Nenskra valley's perspectives on gold mineralization and prospective on quartz low-sulfidation mineralization areas have been distinguished in the river Nenskra gorge.
